Half of January is gone and I have to say it hasn't been too terrible. JB and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary on Saturday (though really it was Sunday) and went to Mystic Lake Casino for a fun night. I had never been to one before and it was a very casual affair so I totally forgot to take outfit pics before we left the house. I gambled 20 bucks and with wins and loses it lasted me pretty much all night--if you follow me on instagram you saw what a huge prize I took home.

Anyway, this post is really more about 2 amazing drugstore finds that I just can't get enough of lately. Both of these were products mentioned by Elle (check her out, girl never disappoints), who did a "what's new at the drugstore" post and they totally grabbed my attention so I decided to check them out myself.

First of all, there's the Maybelline color tattoo metal eyeshadow in "inked in pink". This sounded genius to me for two reasons: I own and love the "bad to the bronze" shade and wear it all the time AND I had been thinking about getting a pink shadow after deciding that it looks really nice on dark eyed girls. If you haven't tried the color tattoo eyeshadows--do you live under a rock?--they are well pigmented, apply nicely and stay on for a long time. The packaging is still the same of the previous color tattoo shadows: simple, durable and lets you see the color nicely.

The second product I wanted to share are the new Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks. I am pretty sure they are supposed to be the competition to the Revlon Lip Butters but to me there is no contest. Hands down these Color Whisper lipsticks are the bomb. I really like the lip butters because of how soft + moisturizing they feel and the colors were pretty but the finish had an almost pearly shine to them that I didn't love on me--but for some reason I felt like on everyone else was lovely. These Color Whispers are just as soft, with amazing colors and have a great sheen without the pearl effect. I got the shade "go nude" which is the least pigmented color they had just because I wanted to try one before buying them all and then regretting it afterwards and I have to say I am totally going back for every.single.one. Watch out ladies, I predict an addiction if you're into lip stuff.

Let me know if you've tried these and what shades do you like the best in the comments! Have you bought any Holy Grail products lately? share the love!

besos,
Maca

PS.- I got mine at CVS because they were having great extrabucks rewards on maybelline but you can find them at most drugstores/Target.

  1. I'm glad you and JB had a good anniversary! I did see your "big winnings" lol. As long as you had fun right?

I might have to try the lip stuff out - I love lipsticks and glosses!

The newest thing I'm loving is Cover Girl's Tru Blend minerals foundation - it's not a new product but it's new to me and it really smooths out my skin nice! I've been liking it a lot so far!

    1. Beth I promise you won't regret the buy if you try the color whispers, they are truly beautiful!
I have never tried that foundation (I suck at picking a color for myself so I don't buy foundation often, lol) I might try it though because I think we might have similar skin issues :)

  7. i just checked the beauty department's site--i've never heard of wasabi tape before but now i want some :) i hope it's not like regular tape, because it's too sticky for nail tutorials, which is why i love my post-it method!

    1. haha love that you called it wasabi tape (like the green spicy japanese sauce/paste) I think it's called washi tape [I called it wasabi tape at first too, just because my brain recognized that word lol]. I've actually never bought any but I do think it's more like paintor's tape than scotch tape, like sticky but not that sticky, lol I don't make any sense. The thing I love are the super cute patterns on them, especially for decorating, obviously for nails, the pattern on the tape is pretty useless :)
