First I want to thank all of you on twitter and facebook and everywhere who wished JB and I a happy anniversary on friday. You guys are so sweet and I feel so lucky to be part of a wonderful community here on the blogosphere! For those of you who don't follow my blog or twitter I'll let you know that one year ago (and a few days) I married the man of my dreams and the love of my life, known here as JB.
I know this is black and white again but I love it. I felt very Blair Waldorf in the coat and feeling like Blair Waldorf = perfect anniversary outfit. I met JB for drinks first since our dinner reservation was for later. I was so excited to celebrate our marriage that I had 2 rums-diet in like 20 minutes. We decided to head for the restaurant and as we were getting close to it this man gives me a weird look, looks away and then looks at me again and just smiles. At this point I start laughing because I have no idea what's going on and he just starts talking about my "great posture" and comparing me to Kate Middleton. Best. Moment. Ever.
Now we get to the restaurant. This is a story all in itself which is why I didn't want to post it so I wouldn't bore you but I really want to rave about this restaurant because we just had the best time--and the best food.
We used to go to the gym at Target Center in downtown Minneapolis which is why we immediately took notice when a big, new Mexican restaurant "Rosa Mexicano" set shop about 3 blocks from there. We had been dying to try it since it opened and decided we would go for our anniversary. On Monday or Tuesday we decided to make the reservations and we stumbled upon a lot of mixed reviews. Many of them raved about the food, some complained about the prices and most were disappointed with the service. This was a huge bummer and I decided to ask on twitter for opinions. Elle said she had the same experience in Atlanta which was kind of a red flag and somehow I ended up receiving a DM from the restaurant asking me to email PR to explain my bad experience. Obviously, I emailed explaining that I hadn't been yet and that they misunderstood the conversation and share my disappointment in the reviews so they asked us to give them a chance for our anniversary and offered a complimentary champagne toast and desserts. JB and I were on the fence but we are huge lovers of Mexican food so decided to go anyway and OMG we are so glad we did. Since the moment we walked in everything was perfect. The hostess was super sweet, took our coats and took us to the best table in the house. We had guacamole made table side, our awesome server Joe made amazing suggestions and the food was BANANAS--I said this as we were eating plantains which made me feel like an idiot but it was just that good. Husband and I agree that it was probably the best meal we have ever eaten, no joke. It is somewhat pricey but for a special ocassion it's so worth it! Really glad Rosa Mexicano has great PR and convinced us to try them out!
Sorry if I bored you with the story!--If you ever decide to go (there are a few around the country) make sure you try their frozen pomegranate Margarita, their guac and fried plantains! And leave room for dessert too!
xoxo
